Betty Jean Brewer

Betty Jean Brewer of Cuba, Missouri, was born on July 27, 1947, to Charles Thomas and Wilma Lee (Licklider) Rowden. She passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the age of 77, at Cuba Manor.

Betty dedicated many years of her life to serving as a line cook at various local establishments, including Midway Restaurant, Porky’s, and BJ’s. Known for her authenticity and strong personality, she was unapologetically herself and had a unique way of approaching life. Betty had a passion for music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, enjoyed reading the works of Nora Roberts, and was known among her friends and family as a skilled pool player. Her love for her pets was evident, and they held a special place in her heart.

She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Thomas Rowden.

Betty is survived by her loving mother, Wilma Lee (Licklider) Rowden; her sister, Charlene Hedrick; and two cherished nieces, Stacey Chandler and Donna Davenport, all of Cuba. She will also be missed by her great-nieces and great-nephews: Rocky (Crystal) Chandler, Ashley (Tyler) Sahr, Jay (Mary) Howard, Wesley (Jessica) White, Ryan (Stacey) Davenport, Amanda Davenport, and Lucas (Loretta) Davenport, as well as her great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Todd Holman, officiating. Betty will be laid to rest at Kinder Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Partners for the Cuba Pound, located at 224 Enterprise Dr., Cuba, Missouri 65453.
