Beatrice L. “Bea” Spurgeon of Cuba, Missouri was born on Thursday, December 31, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Jack and Hazel (Copling) Beal. She left from this life on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Cuba Manor at the age of 85.
Bea was united in marriage to Dale Spurgeon on October 19, 1957. Together they would raise six children Tim, Cheryl, Crystal, Cynthia, Anita and Shawna.
Bea and Dale owned and operated the Dry Cleaners in Cuba for several years. She was an Avon Sales Rep. for many years and was a longtime member and pianist of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, yard sales, donating her time to help others and she volunteered at the Cuba Ministerial Alliance.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents Jack Beal and Hazel (Copling) Hayes; husband Dale Spurgeon; two brothers Jackie Beal and Bethuel “Bud” Beal; two sisters Darlene and Rose Ellen Beal.
Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her six children Tim Spurgeon, Cheryl King of Sullivan, Crystal Short of Sullivan, Cynthia Stroup of Blue Jacket, Oklahoma, Anita Spurgeon of Blue Jacket, Oklahoma, Shawna Spurgeon of Sullivan; one sister Leona and husband James Doyle of St. James; Lonnie Hayes of St. James; longtime friends and neighbors Steve and wife Sandy Ellington, Ken and wife Ann Descombes all of Cuba, Vernon and wife Renee Graven of Bourbon; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Licklider Cemetery with Deacon Vernon Graven, officiating.
