Barbara Sue Callahan of Steelville, Missouri was born June 10, 1952 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Rev. Marvin and Ruth (nee: Barton) Callahan and left from this life on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Cherryville, Missouri at the age of 55 years 5 months and 22 days. Barbara was united in marriage to Darrell Callahan on April 28, 1972 at Center Ridge Pentecostal Church of Cherryville, Missouri and to this union two beautiful daughters were born; Kimberly and Angela. Barb worked in housekeeping for the past 9 years at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville, but what she enjoyed most about being there was spending time with the residents, that she loved dearly. Barb's first passion in life was being a Christian and going to church. Next came her family, spending time with them, loving them and spoiling her grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping, going for a ride, eating out especially "Mexican", the Ladies Retreat, Sister's Outings, collecting gingerbread men and women, bears, candles and frogs. Barb's favorite holiday was Christmas, not only the music, not only spending time with family and not only decorating, but because of the real reason for the season. Barb was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister in law, aunt, great aunt, niece, daughter in law, sister in law, cousin and friend of many "Because she never met a stranger". She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Barb is preceded in death by her father Rev. Marvin Leroy Callahan, one sister Joyce Baker, two nieces; Karen Warren and Sherry Callahan, uncles; Lloyd, Ottis and Vernon Barton, Aunt Bernice & Uncle Johnny Hoffman, Uncle Landis & Aunt Alvie, Uncle Arlis & Aunt Mabell Callahan, Aunt Clella & Uncle Roy Godbey, Aunt Stella Callahan, Aunt Bonnie & Uncle Glen England, Aunt Lois Beal, Uncle Red Martin and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to celebrate a life lived is her loving husband of 35 years Darrell Callahan of the home, two amazing daughters; Kimberly and husband Cleve Holland and Angela and husband Steve Bridgeman all of Cuba, her two pride and joys her grandchildren; Samuel "Bubby" and Cheyanne "Sissy" Holland of Cuba, her mother Ruth F. Callahan of Cuba, five sisters; Deloris and husband Douglas Warren of Chesterfield, Missouri, Shirley and husband Harrison Brown of Cherryville, Jan Callahan and friend David Monda, of Cuba, Missouri, Pam and husband William Huggins of Cuba, and Cindy and husband Darrell Phipps of Union, Missouri, one brother Gary Callahan of Cuba, mother and father in law Willis and Geraldine Callahan of Steelville, two brother in laws: Dennis Baker of Ozark, Missouri and Junior and wife Peggy Callahan of Steelville, sister in law Brenda and husband Keith Neff of Cuba, aunts and uncles; Betty & Ray Harris of St. Louis, Missouri, Alma & Buck Harris of Viburnum, Missouri, Jim & Doris Barton of Carondelet, Illinois, Betty Barton of Park Hills, Missouri, Lavada Martin of Steelville, seventeen nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation Tuesday, December 4th from 3 till 8 PM at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral service 11 AM Wednesday, December 5th at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba with Pastor Harrison Brown and Dwight Barton officiating. Special music provided by Johnny Setzer playing the piano and singing "Eastern Gate", Tim and Chrissie singing "More Than Anything" and Bob and Carol Coleman singing "I'll Thank You Jesus". Honored to be serving as pallbears are; Brad Brown, Tim Baker, Jeremy Prince, Leroy Callahan, Leon Callahan and Greg Neff. Burial at Martin Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored serving the Callahan family.
