Austin Arden Morris

June 13, 1918 — February 7, 2011

Austin Arden Morris of Cuba, Missouri was born June 13, 1918 at Thayer, Missouri and left from this life on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Rolla, Missouri at the age of 92 years 7 months and 22 days. Austin was united in marriage to Lillie Lee Riley on December 31, 1937 and after sixty one years of marriage she left from this life February 16, 1999. They had one son William Austin Morris who was born September 23, 1940 and he left from this life on August 1, 1957. Austin proudly served in the United States Army from November 1944 till November 1946. After World War II they moved to Steelville where they purchased a furniture store, and later purchased farmland outside of town where they operated a registered Angus farm. In June of 1959 Austin became a real estate agent for United Farm Agency where he worked until he retired to the farm in 1970. He retired from farming in 1985, but he never really retired for he has worked in stocks, bonds and investments for the last 41 years. Austin was a member of the Presbyterian Church, VFW and American Legion of Steelville and a Mason for over 50 years. He enjoyed quall hunting, fishing, pheasant hunting and being outdoors. On February 14, 2000 Austin was united in marriage to Loreta 郢邀邜Reta郢邀邝 nee: Dye and they spent many years traveling together and enjoying life. Austin was a loving son, brother, husband, father, step father, step grandfather, step great grandfather, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Austin is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Peggy Smith and Betty Morris, first wife Lillie, son William, niece, nephew and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his loving wife Reta Morris of the home, three step children Carol Ann and husband Ron McSorley of Liberty, Missouri, Allen and wife Sherry Jennings of Center Town, Missouri and Brenda and husband Terry Wilkinson of Jeff City, Missouri, five step grandchildren Tammy McSorley and husband Chuck Sundermeyer, Mark and wife Kim McSorley, Tyler Jennings and Aimee Wilkinson, Elizabeth Barnard, two step great grandchildren Evan McSorley and Declan McSorley, cousins Mary Sue and husband Ken Farrell and Olan and wife Euda Russel, special friends Treff and Sandy Earney and Allen and Wanda Grayson and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 4:00 till 8:00 PM at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, 904 W. Washington, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Interment and prayers will follow at the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri with full military honors. Donations may be made to any Veterans Organizations of Steelville or Charity of Choice. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Morris family.
