Antoinette Marie 'Ann' Karpowecz

Antoinette Marie "Ann" Karpowecz of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Samuel and Adele (Schwann) Comparato on June 27, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri and left from this life on Friday, September 9, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 77. Ann founded the Rock Fair Restaurant & Lounge in 1979 and was the longtime owner/operator. She was known for "The Rock Burger", "Pizza", "Fried Pickles" and her many daily specials. Her hard work, devotion and inviting personality has kept customers coming back for years. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a member of Cuba VFW Auxiliary Post #7147 and Cuba American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed her trips to Florida, the beach, shelling, bowling and she was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan. Ann is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Adele (Schwann) Comparato; two brothers Vince and Joe Comparato; one sister and Florence Comparato. Those who are left treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her husband Frank Karpowecz of the home; children Sheri and husband John Pogorzelski of Arnold, Missouri, Jerry and wife Melanie Montgomery, Jimmy and wife Claudia Montgomery all of Cuba, Missouri, Frank and wife Sheila Karpowecz of California, Missouri and Jim Karpowecz of Cuba, Missouri; Grandchildren James (Lisa), Jeff, Mark, Michael, Mariah, Jorden, Jonathon, James, Jaclyn, Jenna, Chasity, Josh, Haley, Jordan, Zack, Kirsten and Tyler; great-grandchildren James, Mya, Cloe and Hunter. one sister Gloria Miller of Arnold, Missouri; sister-in-law Jeanette Comparato of St. Louis, Missouri; special friends and care givers Cookie Armstrong, Cathy Hattersley, Judy Barnicle and Judy Richards; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. James Finder as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society or Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is Honored to be serving the Karpowecz family.
