Anna Lee Allen

Anna Lee Allen of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday, February 23, 1926 at Iberia, Missouri to the union of Walter and Ida (nee: Humphrey) Whitaker and left from this life on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Cuba Manor at the age 90 years. At the age of eleven, in 1937, Anna spent seventeen weeks at Shriners Hospital, due to having Polio. Anna was united in marriage to Lloyd Allen and to this union four children were born; Lloyd, Nancy, David and Sandra. Anna lived in Granite City, Illinois from 1957 till 1972. After Anna's husband, Lloyd, passed away in 1966 Anna went to work. She babysat for many years and worked in the cafeteria for the Crawford County R-II School District for eight years. Anna enjoyed quilting and embroidery work. Her favorite color was red and she enjoyed listening to classic country music. Anna was a long time member of the Cuba United Methodist Church. What Anna always enjoyed most in life was spending time with her family and friends. Anna was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, sister-in-law and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Anna is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Ida Whitaker, husband Lloyd Allen, infant son David Lee Allen, one daughter Nancy Jolene Allen, one sister Millie Barnett, one brother Walter Spurgeon, son-in-law Thomas Farris and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving children Lloyd R. and wife Carol Allen of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and Sandra Farris of Cuba, three grandchildren Lucas Allen Ray, David B. Allen and Sherry Allen, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, brother-in-law Thomas Allen of Lebanon, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba. Special recorded music will be "Go Rest High on That Mountain", "Amazing Grace" and "Nearer the Cross". Interment and prayers will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Union Cemetery, Iberia, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 4400 Clayton Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri, in Anna' memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Anna's family.
