Anna Belle Hawkins

June 11, 1923 — October 28, 2013

Anna Belle Hawkins (nee: Nickelson) of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Joseph L. and Blanche E. (Kelso) Nickelson on June 11, 1923 in Richwoods, Missouri and left from this life on Monday, October 28, 2013 at Rolla Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 90. Anna was united in marriage to David Roland Hawkins on March 2, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union four children were born Michele, Michael, Pamela and John. Anna was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her home and family. She was an avid golfer and spent many hours on the Cuba Lakes Golf Course. Her other hobbies included sewing, crocheting, gardening and fishing. Anna is preceded in death by her parents Joseph L. and Blanche E. (Kelso) Nickelson; husband David Roland Hawkins; two sisters Marcella Litton and Betty Jo Gilliam. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her four children Michele Higbee of Dallas, Texas, Michael and wife Pat Hawkins of Wildwood, Missouri, Pamela and husband Dr. Bill Cottingham of Rolla, Missouri, John and wife Pam Hawkins of St. Peters, Missouri; eight grandchildren Julie Metheny, David Cottingham, Janie Williams, Kevin Higbee, Patrick, Brittney, Andrea and Brett Hawkins; five great-grandchildren Gavin and Blake Cottingham, Jace and Annabelle Williams and Eva Leigh Metheny; two step-great-grandchildren Jewell and Jordan Metheny; two sisters Flora Whitaker of Hermann, Missouri, Florence Durham of Venice, Florida; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Don Martin, officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the American Heart Association The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hawkins family.
