Angelo Raffaelo Petito of Cuba, Missouri was born on Thursday, February 24, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York to the union of Michel and Angelina (Ventura) Petito. He left from this life on Friday, December 24, 2021 at St. James Living Center in St. James, Missouri at the age of 83.
Angelo honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960 as a Radio Operator. After his discharge from the military, he went to work as a radio operator for World Wide Shipping in Greece. He traveled around the world on ships at sea, having spent most of his time in Greece, London and Holland.
After his return to the states, he earned a Masters Degree in Physical Education from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He served as the Athletic Trainer for the Salukis Football, Track and Swim Teams for several years.
Angelo is preceded in death by his parents Michel and Angelina (Ventura) Petito; five sisters Philomina Matteo, Pasquelina DeMarco, Susan Guerriero, Carmella “Millie” McKeen, Grace Petito; two brothers Joseph Petito and Anthony Petito.
Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his friends and former student athletes, near and far.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church 415 W. School St. Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Dan Lueckenotte as the celebrant.
Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
