Alvin Leroy Rouse

Alvin Leroy Rouse of Cuba, Missouri was born Monday, August 18, 1930 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Claude and Theresa (Nee: Booth) Rouse and he left from this life on Monday, October 1, 2018, surrounded by family, in Cuba at the age of 88 years. Alvin was united in marriage to Lorraine B. Knight on September 10, 1960 at Normandy, Missouri and to this union two daughters were born; Peggy and Judy. Alvin started in working career as a drywall taper, after graduating from Normandy High School in 1947. During his career he worked for the St. Louis Painters Union Chapter #2 and for Rouse Durbin Construction. He was known for being the best wallpaper hanger in the county. He retired at the young age of 75. Alvin enjoyed watching sports, especially the St. Louis Blues Hockey, St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and Kansas City Chiefs Football. He spent hours in his work shop building cabinets, frames, candle stick holders and other furniture out of wood. What he treasured most in life was spending time with his family and friends. Alvin was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, brother-in-law and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Claude and Theresa Rouse, two brothers; Arthur and wife Lorraine Rouse and Claude and wife Julie Rouse, one sister Elaine and husband Ray Schuettenberg and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of fifty-eight years Lorraine B. Rouse of the home, two daughters; Peggy and husband Doug Windle of Cherryville and Judy Rouse of Cuba, two grandsons; Joshua and wife Rebecca Windle of Columbia, Missouri and Bradley and wife Sara Windle of Cuba, three great grandchildren; Reede, Iris and Nicholas Windle, sister-in-law Darlene and husband Bud Stratman of St. Ann, Missouri, two brothers-in-law Sam and wife Debby Knight of House Springs, Missouri and Bob and wife Judy Knight of Mexico, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Knight officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. In keeping with Alvin's wishes, he was cremated. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Rouse family.
