Alice Laverne Gillis

July 20, 1916 — March 2, 2007

Alice LaVerne Gillis of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Theodore Clark and Thera Clark (nee Richie) on July 20, 1916 in Okfuskee, Oklahoma and left from this life on Friday, March 2, 2007 at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 13 days. Alice retired after many years of dedicated service as a Registered Nurse. She was a very kind and caring person and enjoyed her family and the times that they shared together. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, embroidery work and reading. Alice is preceded in death by her parents Theodore Clark and Thera Clark (nee: Richie), her husband Malcolm Gillis, son James Vernon Smith, granddaughter Terri Sanders, one brother Lee Clark, two sisters Helen Gailey and Cora Wilson, son-in-law James Priest. Those who are left to celebrate her life and continue her legacy are her three daughters Ruth and husband Glen Hinshaw of Leasburg, Missouri, Evelyn and husband Wayne Sanders of Hazelwood, Missouri, Elizabeth "Libby" Priest of Hazelwood, Missouri; six grandchildren Debbie Hendricks, Sherri Redus, Wayne Sanders, Jr., Wesley Sanders, Kathy Priest and Diane Seeger; ten great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Wednesday, March 7, 2007 10:00 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home 904 West Washington St. Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Gary Hendricks, officiating. Special music "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art", "Just As I Am" "In The Garden" will be song by her granddaughter Debbie Hendricks and her husband Gary. Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis Missouri, Wednesday 1:30 p.m.
