Ada Ruth Maxfield (nee: Markley) of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of William and Zora (Chewning) Markley on September 18, 1917 in Jakes Prairie, Missouri and left from this life on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Cuba Manor at the age of 98. During the depression Ada worked at the Southern Hotel in Cuba and later during the World War II at the Small Arms Plant in St. Louis making bullets. In 1946 she married Raymond Maxfield and they moved to a farm north of Cuba. Before retiring to care for her mother and husband, she worked for Convy Heel Co. for over 17 years. Ada was a Project Leader for the Oak Hill 4-H Club, a member of the Cuba Ladies Bowling Assoc. and the Presbyterian Mariners Club. She loved flower gardening, being the family pie baker, watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, being outdoors, her dog Poodle and spending time with family and friends. Ada is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray Maxfield; brothers and sisters-in-law Cecil and wife Edith/Gerry, Dallas, Charles and wife Helen Markley, Dallas Markley; sisters and brothers-in-law Doras and husband Ed Jennings, Mildred and husband Sodo Moschetto; brother-in-law Eugene and wife Eunice Maxfield,sisters-in-law Margie and husband Don Hazelwood, Marie and husband Milton Forrester; nephews Robert Markley and Richard Forrester. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are one daughter Donna and husband Marvin Richardson of Cuba, Missouri; nieces Betty and husband Norman DeLeo, Shelly Jennings-Bell, Millie and husband Bud Hill, Della Rae and husband Tom McDuffy; nephews Mike and wife Julie Jennings, John and wife Debbie Jennings, Keith and wife Lisa Markley, John and wife Arlynn Hazelwood, Larry and wife Helen Maxfield; sister-in-law Marvinelle Markley of Tucson, Arizona; three step-grandchildren Chris and wife Tammy Richardson, Angela Martin, Joey and wife Jenna Richardson; nine step-great-grandchildren, five step-great-great-grandchildren, cousins and many friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Mace, officiating and Dennis Roedemeier providing the eulogy. Interment will follow at Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to Shelter Pals or Kinder Cemetery Association. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Maxfield family.
