Obituary

Jerry A. Casarotto of Springfield, Missouri was born Saturday, February 26, 1949 at Rosati, Missouri to the union of Hector and Wilda Marie (Nee: Licklider) Casarotto. He left from this life suddenly on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at his home in Springfield, Missouri at the young age of 71 years.

Jerry retired from Mercy in Springfield as a Physical Therapist Assistant after twenty-six years of dedicated service. His second occupation and his favorite passion was playing music. He could play the piano, guitar, fiddle, accordion, drums, and the spoons, just to name a few.

He spent many years playing music. He played at the Ozark Opry at the Lake of the Ozarks, Jamboree at the Lake of the Ozarks, Ozark Country Jubilee in Branson, and many other places. After retiring Jerry started playing music for the local nursing homes in Springfield. He did six gigs a month.

While playing at the Ozark Country Jubilee Jerry earned three years in a row the “Piano Player of the Year” award. He was always known at the Smiling Piano Player.

He spent many hours working in his yard, landscaping, and watching his beautiful flowers grow. His favorite movie of all times was “The Great Outdoors”. Jerry enjoyed cooking, but please make sure you know how to load the dishwasher before you touch it.

What he absolutely loved most in life was his daughters Lesa and Christy. He treasured every moment that he got to spend with his daughters and his grandchildren.

He was a loving son, brother, dad, papa, uncle, great uncle, cousin, best friend, and friend of everyone he ever met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Hector and Wilda Marie Casarotto and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving daughters Lesa and husband Darren Schroyer of Cuba, Christy and husband Scott Pilkenton of Cuba; four legged child Lucy; six amazing grandchildren Joshua and wife Jenni Pilkenton of Cuba, Chris and wife Harley Schroyer of Denver, Colorado, Amber Mayberry and companion Paige of Springfield, Jacob Schroyer of Cuba, Zach Schroyer of Springfield, Jeremy Pilkenton of Springfield; two beautiful great granddaughters Emmalyn and Addalyn Schroyer; two brothers Eugene and wife Wanda Casarotto of Cuba, Larry and wife Sue Casarotto of Cuba; one sister Marilyn and husband Charles Chase of California, Missouri; best friends Steve and Doug; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the Mizell Funeral Home. Special recorded music will be “Whippoorwill” and “When I Get Where I’m Going”.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cuba Animal Shelter or your local Humane Society in Jerry’s memory.

The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving Jerry’s family.
