Deborah Kay “Debbie” Schatz of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Kenneth and Glendola (Sears) Morse on January 22, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She left from this life, surrounded by her family at her home, on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the age of 66 years.

Debbie was a member of Anointed Faith Tabernacle Church. She served on the Board of Directors of Disabled Citizens Alliance for Independence in Viburnum and helped form Heartland Independent Living Center in Owensville. She knew what it was like to be disabled and she loved helping others live an independent life.

She always had a great sense of humor and she loved spoiling her two dogs Buster and Pooter. She enjoyed working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Debbie was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to many. She will deeply be missed, by all who knew and loved her.

Debbie is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Glendola (Sears) Morse; husband Jerry Schatz and other relatives and friends.

Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her three children Sonja Stroup of Cuba, Gary Freeman of Sullivan, Matt Freeman of Cuba; five grandchildren Mark and Gary Freeman, Ashley Shade, Breanna King and Korrin Schmidtke; three great-grandchildren Liam Shade, Oliver and Lillian Downing; six sisters Patricia Paxton of Leavenworth, Kansas, Vicki Vanco of Martinez, Georgia, Pamela Lohmeyer, Sandra McCullim, Karen Reynolds, Sharon Morse; one brother Kenneth Morse, Jr. all of St, Joseph, Missouri; nieces, nephews and many friends.

In keeping with her wishes, Debbie will be cremated. Private family services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Cuba Animal Control Shelter 224 Enterprise Dr. Cuba, Missouri 65453.

The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Schatz family.

My sweet Debbie
I have so many treasured memories of us driving to and fro dialysis the people we had in my van. The talks we would have about Jesus , laughter, tears , hugs, oh and the gossip we shared. I loved everything about you from the very first day I started picking you up for your appointments. I will miss you so much my friend. When you see mother Eve give her a kick in the knee for me and run!!😂 I love and Miss you.

RIP Aunt Deb!!! We Love YOU!!! Aunt Deb was a remarkable lady. She was a fighter and a champion for the disabled. She was also very kind and compassionate. One of many memories that stand out for me was the countless hours we spent playing Yahtzee. Also going hunting with Uncle Jerry in his very tiny cabin that had 2 windows in it Aunt Deb and Uncle Jerry had a intercom system and Uncle Jerry and I really enjoyed calling Deb from the intercom and asking if she would bring us more coffee, doughnuts and chili!!! Aunt Deb be sure and give Uncle Jerry a hug from Joe and I . Love you Aunt Deb!!! Love, Joe and Casilda

There’s a lot of memories I could share but not sure the statute of limitations has run out yet lol. You had a smile for everyone and a hug to go with it. Thank you for being so loving to my extended family when others did not. You spread your unconditional love to everyone who knew. You. You were always a fighter and I’m very proud to call you sis. You can rest now, without pain, God has decided to bless his home with your presence. Rest my Big Sister you deserve it. Love. And Miss. you always.

My mom was the funniest smartest and meanest woman , if you got on her wrong side. Not many did they knew better. She lived her life to the fullest! When she found out she had cancer the first time that beautiful lady never let it get to her.

I wasnt an easy 16 yr old girl to have but one of my foundest memories of her was the night I told her I was going to watch a movie with a female friend, well mama knew better. She was waiting on top our hill behind a tree with a flashlight I her hand. I've never seen a young man drive so fast out of my driveway not to mention my butt booking it in the house as fast as possible.

She made everything feel welcome no matter who you were. She loved animals. When we were growing up if our stupid selves got a dog she would end up raising it because teens are just stupid who knew dogs didnt feed or clean up after themselves lol.

Anyway momma I love you to the moon and back. You taught me sooo Many things good and bad lmao. You will never be forgotten but missed every single second of the day
