Obituary for Robert Lee "Bob" Paulson

Robert Lee "Bob"  Paulson
Robert Lee “Bob” Paulson of St. James formerly of Cuba, Missouri was born July 9, 1928 at St. Louis, Missouri to Alpha Marie Smith Morris and left from this life on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Missouri Veteran’s Home of St. James at the age of 88 years.

Bob proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from September 20, 1944 till January 11, 1945 and then he served in the United States Army from September 17, 1945 till September 10, 1948 and from February 1, 1949 till June 7, 1952. He earned the World War II Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and the Presidential Unit Citation. He worked as a rifleman and Marine fireman while in the Army.

Bob was united in marriage to Ruth Cocas on October 18, 1952 at St. Louis, Missouri and to this union two sons were born Ralph Michael and Robert Lee Paulson, Jr.

After the Army, Bob went to work for the Railroad. He retired after thirty years of dedicated service as a Terminal Dispatcher. Bob and Ruth moved to Indian Hills Lake in 1977 and after retirement Bob enjoyed fishing, playing poker, Yahtzee, panicle and bingo. Bob loved to cook and his specialty was breakfast. He was a Lifetime member of the VFW and the of the 187th airborne the Rakkassans,.

Bob is preceded in death by his mother Alpha Marie Smith Morris, one sister Betty Crimi, sister-in-law Valerie Cocas Heath, brother-in-law Cornell Cocas and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of nearly sixty four years Ruth Paulson of Cuba, two sons Ralph Michael and wife Sandy Paulson of St. Louis, Missouri and Robert L. Paulson, Jr. of Cuba, brother-in-law William G. and wife Doris Cocas of St. Louis, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Chapel service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, Missouri with full military honors. (Please meet at the parking lot behind the Administration Building.)

The military honors team will proudly serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. James Veteran’s Home residents fund in Bob’s memory.
