Obituary for Barbara Garrison

Barbara Garrison
Barbara Pauline Garrison of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, October 14, 1938 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Lewis Charles and Bessie Pauline (Nee: Way) Raybrook and left from this life on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 78 years.

Barbara was united in marriage to Jimmie Lee Garrison and they were the proud parents of James L. Garrison.

Barbara and Jimmie owned and operated the Cuba Book and Varity Store. They also owned the Cuba Amusement Center, Steelville Amusement Center, St. James Amusement Center and the Viburnum Amusement Center and the Cuba Scrapyard. Before moving to Cuba, they owned G&G Vending Co and the Allerton Scrapyard in Allerton, Illinois. After Jimmie passed away, Barb went to work for Cuba Manor in the housekeeping department.

She was an excellent cook that always cooked from scratch. Her apple pies and biscuits were the world’s best. In her spare times she enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and going to the boat.

Barbara was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, great aunt and friend. She had a heart of gold, was loved by many and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Barb is preceded in death by her parents; Lewis and Bessie Raybrook, husband; Jimmie L. Garrison, eighteen-year-old son; James L. Garrison, two brothers Harold Raybrook and Danny Raybrook, sister;
(infant) Mary Ann Raybrook and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving brother Richard “Rick” Raybrook, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephew and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba.
Special recorded music will be “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross”.

Interment and prayers will follow at the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.

The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be Barbara’s family.
